About me :

This is Saeid Esmaeiloghli’s academic website!

Saeid is a senior PhD student of mineral exploration engineering at the Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran. His main research interests lie in the field of mathematical geoscience and geoinformation. He is particularly interested in geospatial signal processing, mineral resource modelling, machine learning and pattern recognition of geo-objects.

Saeid is currently living in Toulouse, France. He is now spending a visiting fellow in the Signal-Images en Sciences de l'Univers group, at the Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planétologie (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées, University of Paul Sabatier), Toulouse, France, since March 2018.

Saeid was born on September 5, 1986, in Meshkin Shahr, located in Ardabil province, northwest of Iran. Meshkin Shahr is the nearest city to Sabalan High Mountain and is one of the most ancient cities in Iran.

Saeid received both the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in mineral exploration engineering from the Sahand University of Technology (SUT), Tabriz, Iran, in 2011 and 2013, respectively. SUT is a leading engineering university in Iran, located in the northwest of Iran, 20 km southwest of Tabriz in Sahand satellite city, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. It is named after the nearby mountain of Sahand.

During the MSc, his main areas of research interest focused on two topics: the geostatistical estimation and the geochemical data processing. His MSc seminar was entitled: "Geostatistical Monitoring of Mineral Deposits, with Focus on Indicator Kriging", while his MSc thesis was entitled: " Assessing the Mineralization Potential of Primary Geochemical Halos, Using Exploratory Boreholes Data of Masjed-Daghi Porphyry Copper Deposit", working with Dr. Mohammad Jafar Mohammadzadeh, who is Associate Professor at the Department of Mining Engineering.

In 2014, after completing a two-year MSc, Saeid got accepted a position as Doctor of Philosophy at the Isfahan University of Technology (IUT), Isfahan, Iran, and currently, he is a PhD candidate of mineral exploration engineering in the Department of Mining Engineering, working with Dr. Seyed Hassan Tabatabaei (Associate Professor, geochemical exploration).

IUT is one of the most prestigious engineering universities in Iran. It is located northwest of Isfahan and is one of the major universities and research poles in Iran in the fields of science, engineering and agriculture. IUT is ranked among top 351-400 universities of the world for the 2014-2015 educational year as per Times Higher Education (THE) ranking. In addition, the university is ranked among top 100 world's universities under 50 years old in 2014 by THE.

In 2017, Saeid gained admission as a research visitor to the Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planétologie (IRAP) which is a subset of Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées (OMP), and University of Paul Sabatier (UPS), Toulouse, France.

IRAP was founded in 2011, following the merger of several laboratories in Toulouse. With about 300 staff and researchers, IRAP is a joint research unit of the CNRS and the UPS. It is located in Toulouse on the campuses of the OMP. IRAP's scientific teams conduct fundamental research to understand the Universe and the objects that constitute it from observations and modelling. These studies go from the Earth core to the Big Bang.

In March 2018, Saeid then joined the Signal-Images en Sciences de l'Univers (SISU) group under Professor Yannick Deville. He is currently leading a PhD project on the mineralization pattern recognition using the signal processing and machine learning. The research is supervised by Dr. Shahram Hosseini (Associate Professor, signal processing) and Professor Yannick Deville (Professor, microelectronics). In his PhD thesis work, Saeid has pioneered the signal processing techniques to separate the mineral forming sources and has applied this to geochemical exploration and geostatistical estimation.
